Safari Tour. Man Unuia will take in air-conditioned comfort on a tour of the island an tell you Atiu's history, show you the sights and explain why it happens for 3 hours and $25 per person. Ph 33283.
Coffee Tour. Juergen and Andrea Manske-Eimke offer a tour of their coffee plantations, factory and a visit to their Fibra Arts Studio to sample 'Atiu Coffee'. This tour is very informative and you learn just how much work goes into that brew of coffee. Andrea runs the Fibre Arts Studio and here you can find quality craft. Andrea produces Tivaevae and wall hangings to the traditional design of Atiu and then goes further to produce stunning representations of the craft. $15 per person, ph 33031.
Atiu Island Coffee Tour. Atiuan Mata Arai offers to take you through all the steps in the production of Atiu Island Coffee. She will show you how to grow, pick, hand process and roast over an open fire just as her grandmother did in the traditional Atiu way. Tumunu. It is possible to visit a tumunu yourself, but it is better to go with a host. Your accommodator can arrange this or if not try Timau Mokoroa Ph 33910.
Burial Cave. Aue Raka (Oh-way Ruck-a) of Mapumai, Ph 33256 offers a tour of his ancestral burial cave 'Te Ana o Raka'.
Water Caves. Contact Paul Kura to visit two excellent water caves, Nurau and Vai Akaruru. Ph 33267.
Deepsea fishing. Toko Kea (TK) operates a six metre pontoon fishing boat for fishing and diving (if you have your own gear). If the weather is good Toko will also take you to Takutea Island for fishing or to visit the bird santuary. Phone 33 040.
