Young Kakerori in their orange plumage are regularly being sighted. The birds are not shy. One young male has taken territory of the Atiu Villas grounds and an area across the road from Atiu Villas. This bird is regularly heard in the banyan tree and is quite adventurous. Its was seen bathing in a lawn sprinkler and went inside the conservatory of the managers residence. Sightings are now common and the introduction appears a success.

These sightings have been collated by Ed Saul from the many Kakerori enthusiasts that have visited Atiu to view the birds, from the sightings of local residents and from Birdman George.
